Finish Pro 7 vs 9 vs 9.5
Each jump in models adds additional stages to your turbine sprayer, HVLP turbine sprayer stages increase the efficiency of the sprayer and deliver more atomization ability. The 7 series is a 3 stage model, the Graco Finish Pro 9 is a 4 stage, and the 9.5 / 9.5 Pro Comp is a 5 Stage HVLP Turbine Sprayer. For daily use and medium to large jobs you will typically want to consider a 4 stage or higher unit, the 3 stage unit will do well for smaller occasional projects.
Standard vs Pro Contractor
The standard and Pro Contractor series of the Graco FinishPro HVLP Turbine Sprayers offer different options. The Pro Contractor units have two air filtration filters for incoming air, ensuring air that is used is free of any debris. The Pro Contractor also offers an automatic turbine stop feature that turns the turbine off when you stop spraying for a certain period of time, this helps eliminate any issues with potential over heating and helps the turbine to last longer. The 9.0 Pro Contractor comes with two fluid needle/ nozzle sets including a 3 and 4, while the 9.5 Pro Contractor and Pro Comp come with 3, 4, and 5 needle/ nozzle sets. The Pro Comp series offers a remote 2 quart cup that is pressurized with a built in compressor, remote pressure cups allow for independent control of fluid and air which gives you greater flexibility in adjusting how your material will appear as it is sprayed. The Standard HVLP Turbine series do not offer the auto on/ off turbine, only come with a single fluid needle, and do not have two filters prior to the turbines. With less air filtration and not having an auto on/off the standard series are best for lighter use.

Can you make the 9.5 pro contractor unit into a ProComp unit at a later date ? Unfortunately you cannot convert a Graco 9.5 pro contractor to a ProComp model as the integrated compressor is built into the Procomp model and is not able to be added on the existing 9.5 ProContractor series.
