Single-Point vs Multi-Point — which do you need?

Single-point lubricators (the G-Mini family) mount directly on one bearing and dispense grease or oil to that point on a timed cycle. Best for isolated grease points on production equipment, small conveyors, and remote bearings where a single automated feed makes sense.

Multi-point systems (Dyna-Star, Compact Dyna-Star, Manzel MB/MHH) run one pump that feeds many lubrication points through progressive divider valves or injector blocks. Common on Class-8 trucks, heavy earthmoving equipment, drilling rigs, ready-mix mixers, off-highway haul trucks, and reciprocating compressor cylinders. If you have more than 3–4 grease points on the same machine, multi-point is almost always the right answer.

Grease or oil?

• Grease systems — vehicles, construction equipment, industrial bearings, chains under load. Most Dyna-Star and G-Mini pumps are configured for NLGI grade 000 through #2 grease.
• Oil systems — recirculating oil, cylinder oil for reciprocating compressors, high-speed spindle lubrication. Look at the Manzel Box Lubricators (MBL series) for compressor cylinder oil; Dyna-Star oil models for general machinery.
• Many Compact Dyna-Star pumps are dual — the same unit runs oil or grease with the correct pump lower.

What comes with a "system" vs a "bare pump"

Bare pumps ship as the pump only — you'll need to add a reservoir, control cable, controller, injector or divider block, and mounting hardware. Complete kits (part numbers like 26A326, 77X304, or the CD1xxx / CD2xxx / CD3xxx Compact Dyna-Star series) come with everything sized to a target reservoir capacity. If you're building a new install, order the complete kit; if you're replacing a failed pump on an existing install, order the bare pump that matches your reservoir and controller.

FAQ

Q: How do I know if I need single-point or multi-point?
Count your grease points. One or two isolated points — single-point (G-Mini). Three or more on the same machine — multi-point (Dyna-Star or Compact Dyna-Star).

Q: What's a "divider valve" and do I need one?
Divider valves split one pump's output evenly across multiple points. Progressive divider systems (the MHH modular blocks) meter fixed volumes to each outlet in sequence. If any outlet blocks, the whole system stops — which is a feature, not a bug: it triggers a fault so you can find the plugged bearing before it fails.

Q: Grease or oil for my haul truck / mixer / crusher?
NLGI #2 grease is the standard for on-highway trucks and most construction machinery. Off-highway extreme-cold applications may need NLGI 0 or 00 to pump through long lines. Reciprocating compressors need cylinder oil, not grease — that's a Manzel MBL system.

Q: 12 VDC or 24 VDC?
Match your machine's electrical system. Most Class-8 trucks are 12 VDC; most construction and mining equipment is 24 VDC. G-Mini and Dyna-Star both come in each voltage.

Q: Can I retrofit an existing manual grease truck?
Yes — kits like 17P600 (Komatsu HD-465) and 17J900 (Komatsu PC excavators) are OEM-fit retrofit kits for specific machines. For everything else PSE can spec a custom bill of materials — call with your machine model and grease-point list.
