Dannmar is BendPak's value line — same California engineering, same distribution, same warranty support, but manufactured at a lower price point than the flagship XPR series. Portable / Low Ceiling — MaxJax M7K

The BendPak MaxJax M7K ($5,195) is the answer for home garages with ceilings under 10 feet, or rented spaces where you can't drill permanent floor anchors. Posts detach and store between uses; floor sockets remain flush in the concrete. 7,000-lb capacity covers most passenger cars and light trucks. The only real "portable 2-post lift" on the market.

Symmetric vs. Asymmetric — Which Do You Need?

Symmetric lifts place the swing arms equally forward and rearward — best for trucks, SUVs, and vans where weight is more evenly distributed. Asymmetric lifts rotate the posts about 30° so the front arms are shorter, letting the driver door open past the post — essential for sedans and sports cars. Rule of thumb: cars and SUVs → asymmetric; trucks and vans → symmetric.

Floor Plate vs. Clearfloor

Floor plate lifts have a drive-over bar at floor level — cheaper, lower ceiling requirement (~10 ft), but the floor bar limits your ability to roll a jack under the vehicle. Clearfloor lifts move the cross-beam overhead, leaving the floor completely clear. Professional standard. Requires ~12 ft ceiling minimum. Every serious shop uses clearfloor.

Capacity — How Much Do You Need?

10,000 lb — all passenger cars, SUVs, and half-ton trucks (F-150, Silverado 1500, Ram 1500). Fine for 99% of home garage and independent shop needs.
12,000 lb — three-quarter-ton trucks (F-250, 2500 series), full-size SUVs, and sprinter/transit vans.
15,000 lb — heavy-duty duallys, larger commercial vans, and light commercial trucks.
18,000+ lb — box trucks, larger commercial vehicles, buses.

Can I install a 2 post lift in my home garage?
Yes — most home garages built after 1985 have a 4-inch reinforced concrete slab that will support a 10-12K lift. Confirm ceiling height (12 ft for standard clearfloor, 10 ft for floor-plate or MaxJax). Verify slab thickness before ordering.
