Whether you're producing small-diameter precision parts or larger diameter work, selecting the right lathe depends on swing capacity, bed length, motor horsepower, and spindle speed range. Pittsburgh Spray Equipment stocks benchtop models for space-constrained shops—including the compact Grizzly 4\" x 6\" Micro Metal Lathe—through mid-sized production lathes like the 18\" x 60\" South Bend Turn-Nado EVS with digital readout. Grizzly and Grizzly Industrial offer variable-speed benchtop lathes (8\" x 16\" through 12\" x 36\") with modern conveniences like two-axis DRO and milling head attachments, while South Bend delivers traditional heavy-duty construction. Each brand brings different trade-offs: Grizzly emphasizes affordability and feature-density; South Bend prioritizes longevity and rigidity. The G0949G 12" x 35" Variable-Speed Gunsmith Lathe has a small footprint, but packs plenty of features not found on standard lathes.
The lathe is loaded with features not limited to only a gunsmith but anyone looking for a high-quality, affordable variable speed lathe.
The spider mount system has four brass-tipped screws that stabilize long shafting and rifle barrels through the outboard end of the spindle.
Supplied with a 1-1/2 motor, the 2-speed gearhead produces variable spindle speeds from 100–515 RPM and 390–2000RPM.
The G0949G also comes with a D1-4 spindle, a 200 series quick-change tool post, digital spindle speed readout, and a full-length splash guard.
Like all Grizzly gunsmith lathes, the G0949G comes with a 1-year warranty covering parts and assuring the unit is free from factory defects.
The G0949G manual was written by our U.S. based Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your lathe.
The Grizzly Technical Support team is U.S. based. Parts and accessories for the lathe are available online and shipped from the Grizzly parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.
