Description
Keeping bottles of chemicals in a fume hood is a safety risk. The Justrite Sure-Grip® EX Under Fume Hood Safety Cabinet with 1 Manual Close Door, Right Hinge (model 882400) is designed for the safe and code-compliant storage and venting of solvents and flammable liquids in laboratory environments within colleges, universities, pharmaceutical R&D settings, and more.
The yellow cabinet can store 15 gal (57 L) of flammable liquids and fits under chemical fume hoods, benches, and counters. It features an ergonomic design with a 4-in high by 3-in deep (102-mm high by 77-mm deep) toe kick, which makes it easier for chemical handlers to maintain an appropriate distance. Its exterior dimensions are 35.75 in H x 24 in W x 21.625 in D (908 mm H x 610 mm W x 549 mm D); its 35.75-in (908-mm) height includes leg levelers installed and extended 5/8-in (15.9-mm).
This model is constructed with a sturdy 18-gauge (1-mm) thick steel double-wall, with 1.5 in (38 mm) of insulating air space for fire resistance. The fully welded, not riveted, construction holds the squareness of the unit for a longer life and offers greater protection in a fire since air gaps are reduced.
The high-performance, manual-close, self-latching door (fail safe, 3-point stainless steel) with a right hinge closure can open to a full 180 degrees and close securely for maximum protection under fire conditions when pushed shut. Continuous piano hinges ensure the door closes smoothly every time.
For added security, each cabinet comes with an innovative U-Loc™ handle that does not require manual rotation to engage the mandatory latch. Cabinets include a cylinder lock and key set, or you can choose to use your own padlock. Haz-Alert™ reflective warning labels that read “FLAMMABLE – KEEP FIRE AWAY” are highly visible under fire conditions or during power outages when illuminated with a flashlight.
Model 882400 features one patented, galvanized steel SpillSlope® shelf designed to direct spills to the back and bottom into a 2-in (51-mm) leak-tested sump that meets EPA requirements. Adjustable on 3-in (76-mm) centers, all SpillSlope shelves meet ANSI MH28.1 standards with a 350-lb (159-kg) safe allowable load. Welded shelf hangers interlock with the shelf to offer maximum stability with no flimsy brackets to lose. For replacement shelves, use model 29950.
The cabinet also features back wall vents with built-in flame arresters and a grounding connector to electrically bond directly to the chemical fume hood. Its durable lead-free epoxy/polyester powder-coat finish provides excellent chemical resistance inside and out, as well as minimizes the effects of corrosion and humidity.
