Choosing a leak diverter

Size to the drip area, not the whole ceiling — most leaks come through one spot, and an oversized tarp is harder to hang. Mounting is the real decision: magnets are fastest on steel deck and joists, hanging straps work almost anywhere with an anchor point, ceiling clips suit drop-tile ceilings, and a telescoping pole reaches high bays without a lift.

Check whether the model includes a drainage hose — several ship tarp-only and the hose is sold separately. The bucket kits are the quickest complete answer for an unplanned leak: tarp, hose, straps and container in one box.
