What is the difference between a scraper mat and a wiper mat?
Scraper mats have an aggressive raised surface that knocks mud, snow and grit off shoes, and they usually go outside or right at the door. Wiper mats are carpet-faced and absorb moisture and fine dirt, and they go just inside the entrance. Many buildings use one of each.
How long should an entrance mat be?
A common guideline is enough length for several full strides, about 10 to 15 ft across the scraper and wiper zones combined, so that most dirt comes off before people reach the hard floor.
Can these mats go outdoors?
The carpet-faced entrance mats here are made for use just inside the door. For an exposed outdoor entry, put a rubber scraper mat outside and use one of these mats inside.
