Choosing the right oil-only mat

Pick weight by how fast the leak runs. Lightweight suits wipe-downs and light drips; mediumweight is the general shop default; heavyweight handles sustained flow under hydraulics and presses. Perforated mat tears to size so you use only what the job needs.

Pads are easiest for spot work and drip-catching. Rolls make sense for walkways and long runs along a machine line. If the spill could reach soil or a drain, pair the mat with a sock or a berm rather than relying on mat alone.
