How to choose a supply system

Start with your container. Supply units are built around a specific container size — 5 gal (20 L) D60 or S20, 55 gal (200 L) D200 and D200s, and 300 gal bulk on UniDrum. Buy the ram for the drum you actually run; a D200 platen will not seal a 5-gallon pail.

Then the pump ratio. Ratio is how much fluid pressure you get per psi of air. Low ratios (11:1, 20:1) move thin material fast; high ratios (63:1, 68:1, 85:1) push heavy, filled, cold sealant through long hose runs and small orifices. Higher ratio is not automatically better — it trades flow for pressure.

Then temperature. Ambient units move material as-is. Warm melt (Therm-O-Flow, up to 158°F / 70°C) conditions material that is too stiff to pump cold. Hot melt (InvisiPac) melts solid adhesive on demand.

Finally platen and seals. Platen style (dual O-ring, flat single wiper, double wiper) and platen material (aluminum, carbon steel, stainless) follow the material's abrasiveness and corrosivity. Seal material — EPDM, nitrile, PTFE, neoprene, polyurethane — must be chemically compatible with what you're pumping.

Check-Mate

Graco's core ram-mounted supply unit for one-component sealants and adhesives, and the largest family here. Dura-Flo

Higher-flow piston pumps and lowers for medium-to-high viscosity material, often used where Check-Mate would run out of flow. Also sold as bare lowers for rebuilds — for example the 430cc carbon steel severe-duty lower.

UniDrum

Bulk unloaders for 300-gallon (1200 L) containers, in electric (E-Flo SP) and pneumatic (XL 10000 / Dura-Flo) configurations, left- and right-handed. Built for plants running very high volume, like the 45:1 XL10000 carbon steel right-handed supply unit.

Therm-O-Flow Warm Melt

Heated ram supply for warm-applied materials and temperature conditioning, up to 158°F (70°C), with a heated pump and platen plus expandable heated hose zones.

InvisiPac

Tank-free hot melt — melts adhesive on demand instead of holding a heated tank, which cuts char and reduces adhesive waste. HM10, HM25c, and HM50 system sizes.

Frequently asked questions

What does a pump ratio like 68:1 actually mean?
It's the ratio of fluid output pressure to air input pressure. At 100 psi of shop air, a 68:1 pump develops roughly 6,800 psi of fluid pressure. Higher ratio buys pressure for thick material and long lines; lower ratio buys flow rate.

What's the difference between D200 and D200s?
Both are 55-gallon (200 L) ram configurations. The "s" designates the alternate ram/platen setup Graco uses for certain platen and pump combinations — check the platen size and style on the specific unit rather than assuming the two are interchangeable.

Do I need a ram, or just a pump?
If your material is thick enough that it won't feed itself into the pump inlet, you need a ram with a platen to force it down. Free-flowing material can often run off a bare piston pump package.

Ambient, warm melt, or hot melt?
Ambient pumps material at room temperature. Warm melt (Therm-O-Flow) heats stiff material to make it pumpable — it's still liquid cold, just too viscous. Hot melt (InvisiPac) is for adhesive that is solid at room temperature and must be melted.

Which seal material should I specify?
Match it to your chemistry. EPDM is the most common on sealants and urethanes; nitrile suits many oil-based materials; PTFE handles aggressive chemistry and higher temperature. When in doubt, send us the material's technical data sheet and we'll confirm.
