Cut new and clean up old threads with the exceptional quality of the T34073 SAE set. That quality comes from the HSS (high-speed steel) that has been heat treated for hardness and wear resistance, which keeps sharp edges longer.
In addition, the HSS offers precision and versatility, making this set an excellent choice for a wide range of threading applications where tool longevity and consistent performance are depended on.
This 39-piece tap and die set includes popular SAE sizes and one and NPT size to achieve precision threading requirements for both internal and external threads. It includes both plug taps, as well as the corresponding dies of the same size.
HSS plug taps feature a notable taper at the end, designed for a gradual entry into thread cutting, typically encompassing 3 to 5 tapered threads.
The 1" diameter HSS dies are adjustable and have a 2 to 3 thread chamfer for threading on both sides. An integrated screw can slightly compress or expand the die for extra-fine tuning.
These professional-grade tap & dies are made from M2 HSS steel that is tough, wear-resistant, and has high hardness properties. HSS (high-speed steel) has been heat treated to keep a sharp edge longer than other carbon steels.
A SAE thread pitch gauge is included to help you quickly determine the pitch of a thread that is on a screw or in a tapped hole.
