Frequently asked questions

Time mode or distance mode on a pattern controller?
Time mode fires the gun on a fixed schedule and is fine when line speed is constant. Distance mode uses an encoder to fire based on actual part travel, so the pattern stays in the right place even if the conveyor speeds up or slows down.

Do I need a heated regulator?
Only on warm-melt and hot-melt systems. An unheated regulator in a heated line becomes a cold spot where material stiffens or chars.

What does a pump runaway valve do?
If a pump loses prime or the material runs out, it can accelerate to a destructive speed. The runaway valve senses that and shuts off the air supply before the pump damages itself.
